Where every figure on the research timeline came from
Thirty-one refereed articles. 30 figures, rendered at four times print resolution: 29 directly from the published version of record of the article each belongs to, and one (entry 25) from a Wiley Early View copy, flagged in the table.
Matching method: each article was located by searching 30,945 PDFs on this machine, then confirmed by opening the candidate and requiring both the article's own DOI and its full title to appear on page 1. That second test matters because a DOI alone also appears in curriculum vitae, award packets, and reference lists; five such false matches were rejected. Figure regions were cut from the vector artwork on the page, bounded by the caption and by any neighbouring figure, note, or table, with running heads and page furniture excluded.

Known limits
- Twenty-nine of the thirty figures come from the published article. One does not. Entry 25 is an Early View copy, identifiable because Wiley stamps the volume and issue as 9999 until an issue is assigned; no published copy of it is held locally, and it is flagged in the table. Ten entries were corrected on 26 August 2026: 12, 16, 17, 18, 24 and 28 were re-cut from published copies already in the local library that had been passed over in favour of a proof, a preprint or an Early View file; and 1, 11, 14 and 21 were supplied as published articles. Each was confirmed by its own DOI and title on page 1, its printed first and last page numbers, a page count matching the published span, and the absence of any Early View or proof marker.
- Entry 29 carries no page range because Behavioral Interventions now assigns article numbers (e2021) rather than pages. It is the version of record.
- The axis is banded by calendar year, not by exact date. Every year from the first article to the last gets a band, including years with no refereed article, so fallow stretches stay visible instead of being closed up. Within a year, articles are spaced evenly; the CV gives no month, so month-level position would be invented and is not shown.
- Thirty of the thirty-one articles show a figure from their own text. The exception is Fahmie and Luczynski (2018), a six-page review that publishes no figures. Of those thirty, twenty-nine come from the version of record and one (entry 25) from an Early View copy, as described above.
- Hero figure selection is an editorial judgment. Where a paper's Figure 1 is a flow chart, schematic, or apparatus photograph, a later results figure was chosen instead; each of those substitutions is stated in the table above.
- Card prose is written, not quoted. The two sentences on each detail card summarise the study. Numbers appear in that prose only where they were read directly from the paper's abstract or from the rendered figure, and the source is named in the sentence.
- Figures are reproduced from the author's own published work. Copyright in the final published versions rests with the journals.
